We just had to share this incredible image on Africa Geographic of a Great White Shark breaching in Simons Town, Cape Town, South Africa! Did you know that this particular stretch of coast line is one of the VERY few places in the world where you can regularly witness the rare spectacle of a great white shark breach? It all has to do with the unique shape and contour of the continental shelf around Seal Island. There is a very deep ocean channel that separates Seal Island from the coast and it is this ocean depth that gives the sharks the hunting edge over its seal prey. It allows them to dive deep down and swim at full speed directly up to the surface where they burst out of the water directly underneath their unsuspecting victim.
