We left Loxton this morning and had a check out of Berri and Renmark. The weather has been so changeable from quite hot yesterday to cool and windy today. Renmark gave us the opportunity to have a walk around and check out the Murray River in a different form. All the towns are showing signs of doing it tough financially with many shops closed. Our departure from Renmark allowed us to go out onto the Old Wentworth Road. It was a similar distance to the Sturt Highway but mostly gravel/dirt but quite good to travel on especially after lowering tyre pressures down. There is a wonderful interpretive display just after the start of this road describing the area. It is very arid once you get away from the irrigated vines and fruit trees. We saw very few people and even less animals on this road which took us into Wentworth. We had lunch there and were going over old ground so no photos there. After lunch we moved on to Dareton where we refuelled. A rest stop was had in Euston. Then we moved on to be parked beside Lake Benanee, just off the Sturt Highway between Robinvale and Balranald, for the night. A storm brewing to the NW. We are about 50 metres from the lake. Todays journey was a little more than I had planned but will make for an easy run to Hay tomorrow.
