We left out of Ft Dix New Jersey on our way to Holland. That was pretty cool to me cause I hadnt been in Jersey since I was about 5. My mother and I caught the train up there. I had a stuffed Roadrunner toy that chilled with me on the trip. Thats all a 5 year old needed back then for company. Some drunk guy thought my mom was cute and tried to talk to her a little bit longer than she was prepared to listen. I dont remember what she said but a lot of grown folks listening started covering their mouth with their hand and stretching their eyes real wide. The guy got outta there real quick after that. I guess he took the hint that everyone in that car was real tired, with them all yawning like that at the same time and all. Me and the roadrunner stayed up though. It was about an 8 hour flight from Ft Dix to Holland if I remember correctly. A lot of us soldiers started out pretty good playing cards and stuff early in the flight. We all started to rest after a while though. We knew once we landed it would be work work work. REFORGER is what they called it, short for Return of Forces to Germany. We practiced that every year. I guess just in case Hitler wasnt really dead or something.....Dont be disappointed. Theres more to this story..RJ
