We live under a deception that our public opinion is decided only by two options. Two options that fight restlessly and have passed laws to reduce the possibility of us maybe having a third, fourth or fifth option. Two options that use the media and the funds of corporations to present and favor only those who they want to give us as candidates and completely ignore anyone else. We need to understand what people like George Washington and Hyrum Smith warned us and advised us on. That theres no safety when we stand on party. That we need to be aware of the individual running for office and actually make an informed decision. The Republican Party and the Democrat Party were merged, unofficially, a long time ago and have both contributed to the awful situation that our country is in. Favoring one party over another is not the problem. The problem is putting party over everything. The problem is believing that we only have two options. The problem is allowing these two parties (which is really just one party) decide what our choices will be for us. The problem is not standing for principle. Now the people have voted and we cant change that. But we can change our outlook from now on. We can change the laws to encourage, rather than discourage, more options and choices in our public debate. We can change how we debate and discuss political and social issues and put every person under the examining fire regardless of his/her political affiliation. We can make it so that money is no longer the deciding factor in our public elections. We can avoid being influenced and perpetuating racial, class and gender warfare that only serves to distracts us from the real plunder that is occurring. We can change who and how well trust the people that giving us the information. I believe that were in a spot in which we can make real, positive and good change in our society which will undoubtedly affect the rest of mankind for the better.
