We made Punjab polio free, now daily innocent children are becoming its victim, Ch Parvez Elahi Due to defective policies, Shahbaz Sharif was ignoring public health and wasting billions of rupees on useless projects Lahore: 05-11-2014: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi has said that we had made Punjab polio free whereas due to defective health policies of Shahbaz Sharif daily innocent children were becoming its victim now. In a statement issued here today, Ch Parvez Elahi said that when our govt had completed its tenure in 2007, number of new polio cases in Punjab was zero, our performance in health sector had been duly appreciated by all international organizations including World Bank, ADF, DFID and UNICEF, we had launched successful and most effective campaign for elimination of polio, hepatitis, AIDS and other killing diseases in collaboration with World Health Organization, UNICEF and other international donor agencies at a cost of Rs. 6.5 billion, phased surveys and other preventive measures were taken under Malaria Roll Back Project in cooperation with district governments and international organizations. Ch Parvez Elahi further said that due to defective health policy of Shahbaz Sharif, polio disease was again spreading in Punjab because of numerous innocent children were becoming its victim and crippled for life, what bigger proof there could be of Shahbaz Sharif govts no attention towards health sector that according to a recent survey report of Global Polio Eradication Programme, 80 per cent of all new polio cases surfacing throughout the world were in Pakistan and worldwide efforts being made for eradication of polio were being harmed greatly due to in-attention of the present govt and defective health policy. He said that the recent survey report of Global Polio Eradication Programme was a slap on the face of the present govt which was ignoring public health sector and wasting billions of rupees of public money on useless and show off projects. #
