We must advocate for the re-Afrikanization of Afrikan people, and we must lead a revival of traditional Afrikan practices. We must define ourselves and our children by Afrikan names complete with meanings that connect the past with the present and the future. We must become comfortable with the language and behaviors of at least one kinship group on the continent. We must engage in a campaign to redress the images of our families on the continent and make pilgrimages to meet with them in their space. We must become attached to our communities, beliefs, ceremonies, rituals, and festivals. We must return to the traditions of our ancestors; traditions passed on by the Dogon, the Asante, the Yoruba, the Mende, and others who have maintained the way. Traditions that ensure the beliefs, the ethos of our way. A way that guarantees our return to the natural rhythm of becomig one with nature. A way that determines the survival and development of our people. - Mawiyah Kambon Afrikan (Black) Psychologists Answer the Healing Drum
