We pay our heartfelt richest tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his 117th birth anniversary today. Sharing few facts: (1) The Jai Hind slogan used by Subhas Chandra Bose was later adopted by the Government of India and the Indian Armed Forces. (2) Bose was elected President of the Indian National Congress for two consecutive terms, but due to the manoeuvrings of the Gandhi-led clique in the Congress Working Committee & a division with Nehru (following ideological conflicts with Gandhi after openly attacking the Congress Foreign and Internal Policies), Boses Presidency was opposed by Gandhi splitting Bose to form his own cabinet/ party. (3) Bose stood for complete unconditional independence/ Purna Swaraj (self-governance) for India, whereas the All-India Congress Committee wanted it in phases, through Dominion status. Though finally at the historic Lahore Congress Convention, the Congress adopted Purna Swaraj as its motto. (4) The West Bengal Government decided in 2011 to observe Boses birth anniversary (23 January) as Desh Prem Divas but the Indian Government did not approve it at a National level. (5) In 1992, Bose was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna award which was again withdrawn on the nature of being posthumous. (6) Indian Ministries, including the Indian Prime Ministers Office, have refused to make the documents on Boses disappearance public under the Right to Information Act campaign launched by Mission Netaji Trust.
