We post, you decide! On many occasions, publicly and privately, Michael has stated that he opposes any new taxes and raising any current taxes. He opposes Amendment 7 and wants the State to become creative when looking to enlarge the budget. In a struggling economy he believes that money needs to be kept in taxpayers back pocket, not sending more to line the coffers of the State budget. One of Michaels opponents though cant seem to make up his mind if he is against tax increases or for tax increases. On one of Mr. Taylors mailers he stated Lower taxes will attract more jobs to Missouri and promote economic growth. Middle class families deserve to keep their paychecks. Hes been quoted by the Christian County Headliner Voters Guide (7/23/2014) as saying I think we need to cut taxes. The legislature this year passed some tax cuts that were vetoed by the governor. I think that a step in the right direction, but we definitely need to do more. Sounds great, right? Well...at an open forum on July 17, 2014 that was hosted by the Christian County Federated Republican Women, the question was asked if the candidates oppose or support Amendment 7 which seeks to raise the transportation tax resulting in more money out of a taxpayers pocket. Michael stated that he opposes it and would like the state to consider other options while Mr. Taylor stated I think MoDOT has a good understanding of money coming in and going out. Im actually in favor. If we dont pass the sales tax, were going to have a lot of infrastructure issues. Theres only two projects - if this doesnt pass - were going to do in the next five years. If it passes, its going to bring more money into the local economy. So, Mr. Taylor, the question is, do you oppose new taxes or support new taxes? We think the answer is pretty clear. On August 5th, vote for someone who supports keeping your hard earned money in your pocket, Michael Hope. For more information concerning Michael visit MichaelHopeforMissouri.org.
