We received an message from a Russian man and his boyfriend. For purposes of anonymity, he shall be referred to as "Tim". Tim and his boyfriend wrote a letter to us, supporting our efforts and explaining why. Please see below. Tim, thank you. Thank you for supporting our cause and being brave enough to share your story. We are with you and will fight for you until you can walk down the street holding your boyfriends hand freely and without persecution. Boycott of the Winter Olympics 2014 in Russia: We are Russians and we know what we are talking about. We know how the system of the Russian Authority works and we know too well how much grief, medieval cruelty and crying injustice falls over clever, socially active, gifted or just common people who are different from the majority of the population. Russia needs these Olympics not because they want to hold an event which is imbued by the spirit of sports, freedom and piece. The regime needs the games as a fine facade to shelter the cesspool that is exactly the Russia of nowadays. We can imagine contented, pompous government mugs who shake entrancingly hands of the world politicians and sportsmen, the guests of the games, meanwhile when hundreds of thousands of guiltlessly convicted Russian citizens are left to rot in jail. The only thing that Russian politicians are lacking and what they are badly yarning for is the respect, the acknowledgment of being in the same boat with the world elite; because they clearly understand when talking in corridors and in lobbies that they are scum of the civilized world, the former KGB officers who neither have good manners nor can negotiate properly. They clearly understand that they will never be in the same boat with those who are Harvard or Princeton graduates and who have managed to come through thorny path to the top of the world politics and have not been placed there by a bunch of oligarchs and some KGB generals. Colossal budget funds have been stolen while constructing the objects for the Olympics. Nature of the region has suffered a lot. And those things have been happening in the country where the population is dying out and getting dull and the level of the medicine is backward in 30-50 years from that of the progressive countries. Russia occupies the first place within European countries by the level of children suicides and the government has forced the homophobic law which can increase that figure. The Government has introduced a ban law on adoption of hundreds of thousands of orphans (few of them live longer than 30) by US citizens due to the fact the US have publicly acknowledged a few dozens of the Russian officials to be the criminals and have forbidden them to enter the country and any sorts of US dollar transactions. There is no independent court in Russia. Percentage of the “not guilty” verdicts makes less than 1%. A judge reads out a verdict that was written by a prosecutor as it is. At the same time an official can run over a person to death and get sentenced to probation for that, meanwhile a school head master is sentenced to 7 years of jail just for the fact he paid for the school refurbishment from his own pocket because the contractor failed to comply with the contract provisions on time and accused the head master to bribe him for $10K. One of very few justly and publicly elected mayor of a million people city has been detained within an evening after he publicly announced in press his further desire to go to the governor’s elections and his criticism of the Russian Authority. There’s no Parliament in Russia. All crucial initiations of laws, many of them are of prohibitive nature, are coming from the Government and are passed through all the stages by the majority of the MPs without even public hearings. One MP can vote for a dozen of his colleagues, just by running through the rows in the hall and pushing the voting buttons. This is whatever but not the Parliament! Freedoms to speak and think critically have been recently annihilating. Now any criticism of Christianity or Islam can result in a guilty verdict of 2 years of imprisonment for blasphemy! Following the logics of the law all the books on other viewpoints regarding the Universe and morality aspects like those written by the Nobel Prize B. Russell or Nietzsche should be burnt or forbidden just because they hurt the feelings of the pious. Help the Russians to understand that they are following the wrong road. Don’t give your hand to those who torture their people and their own country! Keep your hands clean. Should you share our viewpoint, share it with your friends, please.
