We received several questions on the industrial roller fairlead pic we posted. Hopefully this answers some of those questions. We took some pics of a mil-spec Hummer H1 issue roller fairlead next to a common fairlead sold at your local 4x4 store. These military roller fairleads are manufactured by WARN industries and are part of the M12,000 short drum military winch assembly. As you can see, the main frame is 38% thicker and built from 1/4 inch steel plate. The horizontal roller mounts are fully welded and not just bent tabs like the cheaper unit. The roller shafts are 20% larger in diameter and use permanently lubricated bronze bushings - not cheap polymer bushings. They come in a low sheen black powder coat finish. There is really no comparison here, the military unit is far superior in every way.
