We remember a man with backbone who had the courage to face foes and preach to thousands. Dr. Ian Paisley, died at 88 today. PM Blair said that he had lost a friend. He also said, “He began as the militant. He ended as the peacemaker. “Over time I got to know him well. He could be an uncompromising even intransigent opponent. But he was also someone who loved Northern Ireland and its people. “He led them but he also followed them. When they said to him peace was thinkable, he made it possible.” I always enjoyed hearing Dr. Paisley preach at BJU each year as he ended his prayer he would say, I take Oh, Lord I take the promised Holy Spirit. Undertake for me. And all the people of God, say, AMEN! and Amen! May God raise up more preachers like Dr. Paisley who will stand their ground and not compromise but be faithful to the end.
