We saved this guy from a local auction yesterday. He was down in - TopicsExpress

We saved this guy from a local auction yesterday. He was down in the trailer for almost 8 hours being trampled by 14 other horses. He was literally close to death when we saw him. The guy said if we could get him off the trailer we could have him. It took us 3 hours to get him on but then he was down again. It took 2 hours after we got home and this time he stayed standing all night long. A friend and I stayed in a large stall all night watching. Hes around 1 or 2 so my question is where to start with weight gain and to the road to recovery. We just picked up triple crown senior and plan to start him on it at the end of the week. We plan on taking things very very slow not to upset his stomach. Right now hes getting fescue mixed with a little bit of alfalfa and hes happily walking around the pasture. Anything else we need to do to get him to gain weight slowly and get him healthy again? Hes full blooded walker and is just a little sweetheart!
