We survivied another week with Preston Messmer gone! One to go. I am surprised with how fast it has gone by. This past week he was in Olympia and got to see where the first Olympics took place and seen the ruins of the Temple of Zeus. From there he was on a ferry to Bali Italy. They got to learn how cheese was made and participated in an environmental service project. He was on a ferry across the straits of Messina. They learned a traditional sicilian dance. Of course I already stated he climbed Mt Etna which he said was awesome! They learned about the different oranges grown in Sicily. They visited a pottery studio in Sicily. They walked through the seaside town of Cefalu. They meet with some students and learned the local customs and culture. The visited some ruins in Palermo Italy. The learned to make pizza in a local pizzeria. And today the visited the old center of Palermo. He is now on a ferry to Rome which he seems most excited about. The next week will bring many more great adventures and then it is back to reality for him!
