We teach our children more about how to calm down by our behaviour than by what we tell them to do. When we (me, too) have parenting moments where we felt we could have calmed more than we did, use those as teachable moments. Talk to the kids about what made it hard to calm all the way down and problem solve some solutions for next time. Please dont feel badly, we all have moments we regret. The trick is to do relationship repair afterwards.
