We understand the concern many have over the Ebola virus and want to provide an update on Ochsners infectious disease protocols. From Sandra Kemmerly, M.D., Infectious Disease Specialist and Medical Director of Clinical Practice Improvement: Ochsner Health System is fully prepared should an Ebola case arise. We have a systemwide protocol in place at each of our facilities for the screening and isolation of any patient suspected of having the disease. Each of our hospitals is equipped with negative pressure rooms (isolation rooms). If a case is suspected or identified, we will implement all appropriate isolation and protective measures outlined by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and follow their guidelines for hospital personnel and visitors. Additionally, we will immediately notify the proper parties, including the Louisiana State Epidemiologist, the Office of Public Health and the CDC. At this time, Ochsner does not have any suspected or confirmed cases of Ebola in any of our facilities.
