We used to watch the mailbox for days anticipating a letter or card from a loved one or friend. These pieces of paper were so cherished we would tie those envelopes in ribbon and put those cards in a box to reflect back on for years. Then came the telephone. We still sent birthday, anniversary and holiday cards. And there was always one person who had to publish and send the annual my family is so great, we are over achievers, and look at our new car mini-novel. People got so wrapped up in other things that they stopped writing and just picked up the phone. We now have smartphones, tablets, twitter, Facebook and other electronic communications. We want our information NOW! I miss writing. I miss pretty stationary and a good ink pen that just helps the words flow. Now Im just to blame as the next person. I use electronics all day. I sent out 20 Christmas cards this year. I received three. No, four. One was from our car dealership thinking of us because we dropped a boatload of money at their doorstep this year. I still mail out our bills with checks. And they return a response the very next month.... without fail!! Our mailbox is always filled with 80% garbage and 20% bills. But.... Ill still watch that box for when the postman comes.
