We want to share with all of you for planning purposes our schedule for making up “snow days” this school year. As you know, we have had a historic winter in Michigan. We are allowed the equivalent of 6 days then we must make up days and hours. It’s important to note we have to have a minimum number of days and a minimum number of hours in our district. Every district in the State will have some variance and their own unique circumstances as to what number of days and hours will have to be made up but ALL are only allowed 6 days. I indicate this because in our own county, you will likely see a variety of different last day of school schedules for students and staff. Our reality is we must make up 2 days district-wide and 2.5 days at Morton Elementary. ~We will have full-day sessions K-12 on Wednesday, June 11 AND Thursday, June 12. ~We will have half or .5 day sessions on Friday, June 13 AND Monday, June 16. Essentially, the .5 days regularly scheduled for the 11th and 12th will now take place on the 13th and 16th. Morton Elementary School ONLY will be in session for a .5 day on Tuesday, June 17. Parents and families, we thank you in advance for your commitment to having your students in school on these make up days. Did you know that by State Law we must have at least 75% of our students in school on any given day for the day to count as an official day of instruction? We are not concerned as we know you value your child being at school. Each school will also be communicating individually regarding the make- up days in their communications. THINK SPRING - IT STARTS TOMORROW!
