We want to share with you all a new video released by Seattle Police Department. We must warn the video is disturbing to watch, but it is an accurate representation of the unpredictable nature of police work. The incident happened on Tuesday, July 8, after several officers responded to reports of a suicidal man on the overpass. Officers found the man and started talking to him. During the conversation, he suddenly jumped over the railing. An officer reflexively reached out and caught the man, hauling him to safety. Officers are not trained to do this due to the inherent risk of being injured themselves. The man was referred to a local hospital for assessment. His identity and other details of this incident will not be released in order to protect his privacy. There is no training that prepares you to handle incidents such as this, sometimes instinct kicks in at the right time and place. This was an outstanding job by officers from the Seattle Police Department. Their city, their co-workers, their Seattle Police Officers Guild , Seattle Police Foundation and the citizens of Seattle should all be very proud to Stand With Those Who Serve!
