Classic Birdtail Waterfowl Manitoba Hunting Outfitter high stakes move to go for the big show hunt. We decided to do a morning back shoot on a recently found mallard hide out. RISKY gamble.... Why? - They could daytime on multiple potholes in the near by area. Not a lot of pattern late season birds because this is the last push before freeze up and its panic feeding. Rarely do they roost and daytime on the same water in the Pothole Region - try having over a 100,000 beautiful potholes in your scouting area... STRESSFUL While standing in the water patiently watching all the other potholes in the area feeding the mega field that all our birds went to sure made me feel like I pulled the blank card. Once all the 1000s of mallards gather they could leave together in one massive wad and go to one of the other feeder potholes for their daytime water. We could have shot the field BAAA - but to get a massive pothole hunt on film with big late season numbers takes some gambling... Give it a watch.. Risk and glory go hand and had
