We went to see Gertie last night hot off the plane and arrived just as she was back from 7 plus hours of surgery to plate her spine.She was remarkably lucid and still has feeling in her legs. Obviously she is in tremendous pain but the surgery is over. Now we have to pray that there is no infection. I will be giving her my lap top later this morning ( its now 6.20 am local time) so you will be able to contact her ,please bear in mind that she is exhausted and probably wont be able to reply to you but know that she will get the messages .She has of course made the whole hospital fall in love with her. San Pedro Sula is the crime Capitol of the world- wont be walking back from the hospital again at 11.30 at night again then:-) -couldnt get a taxi.
