We went to see the tall ships at Harbor Place today. There was an older man with a baseball cap sitting on a bench in the shade drinking water. A man who looked about 20 yrs younger walked by and tossed him a bag with clean socks and soap. He then proceeded to yell at him, telling him that it probably wouldnt do any good, but he should use them to get clean. The man just sat there drinking his water. I felt so sad for this man. If the second man had sat next to him and spoken to him quietly, thats one thing. However, he made a point of ridiculing him in person. Does anyone know this mans circumstances? Maybe hes homeless or lives in a room. Maybe hes mentally ill. Whatever the reason, you dont humiliate a fellow human being like that.
