We were a little disappointed today that dad didnt get the speaking valve for his thraech, but he had a lot of secretions, so there was a high risk for choking. He did however have a lot of movement in his right arm. .. it may not have been on command, but it was there! Tomorrow is 1 month since the since the accident, oh what I would give to change anything, any one thing from that morning... everything after seems to be a blur... I remember being at work, and that phone call... my nephew, who was one of the first on the scene... my dads been in an accident... he lost his hand... I remember screaming... I remember my hands shaking as I tried to call my mom and brothers and sister... My post to Facebook asking for the first prayers for my daddy,... and calling a forever friend that we had just left a few short days before, to calm me as i drove to the scene... everything after that... is a blur, and brings me to here... Normal... whats normal anymore? Even grocery shopping has become such a chore, the questions and explanations... or just plain ol finding the time for it! Because of medicare, dad is going to be moved again, most likely before Sept 2nd... we are reviewing the options that were given to us... so hopefully within the next week, dad can be taken off the vent completely, instead of the few hours a day he is doing now. Then once in the new place, they will work on getting him off of the traech, as well as swallowing and any other rehabilitation needed for the rest of his injuries, including walking, etc... as much as time and his injuries will allow! Were still fighting, but the battle is far from over...
