Heading a three-member bench of the apex court, Justice Jawad S Khawaja heard the case of missing persons and observed that the court would neither rest nor let anybody rest, until the last of missing persons was recovered. The court also directed DAG Dil Muhammad Alizai to bifurcate the names of the internment centers and to explain by today (Wednesday) the status and details regarding pendency of the cases of missing persons provided by Amna Masood Janjua as well as by the commission on missing persons. The court gave these directions after the federal government presented a list of 516 missing persons being detained at seven internment centers in the KP.In compliance with the court’s earlier order, the DAG presented before the court a list of internment centers, notified by the government of KP, wherein 516 missing persons were being detained. According to the list, there are seven internment centers in sub jail Palthom, Swat; sub jail Fizaghat, Swat; sub jail Malakand, District Jail Timergara (Not Functional); Frontier Corps forts of Chitral, Drosh, Mirkhai and Timergara (Not Functional), District Jail Lakki Marwat and District Jail, Kohat. The DAG also gave details and names of the officers who are the in-charges of these internment centres, including Rizwan Shah, Ayyub Bacha, Yousaf Gull, Sabz Ali, and Muhammad Irshad. Meanwhile, the court directed the authorities to allow one Nargis, sister of one missing person Imdad Hussain, to meet her brother at the internment center. Nargis had informed the court the other day that her brother was abducted by secret agencies from the Adiala Jail after the high court ordered his release. She had told the court that Imdad Hussain was detained at an internment centre in Lakki Marwat but they were not allowed to meet him.The court also directed Additional Advocate General Punjab Malik Faisal to give a progress report pertaining to the recovery of missing Masood Janjua, the spouse of Amna Masood Janjua, in the light of the confirmation of the statement of Dr Imran Munir. Later, the court adjourned the hearing till Wednesday. Online adds: Justice Khawaja remarked, “It is a serious matter if someone goes missing. This is a list of Punjab and KP. People belonging to Sindh and Balochistan are not included in it. We will hear the case on Wednesday again. A system be devised. We will see the remaining matter later. We will issue orders too.”
