We would like to introduce you to BRAVEHEART, our newest stray. Soon you will understand our choice of name. This gentle boy came in on the 8th of January, in a very very bad condition. He was found in the lower part of Witpoortjie, close to the squatter camp. Not only is he extremely thin, but must have suffered excruciating pain in the past few weeks. He came in with almost nothing left of his ears, two of his digits on his front paw is basically almost off, and his tail had an attempted amputation. We apologise for the graphic images. It seems that his owners tried to amputate his ears and tail by tying them off with string or elastic. The ears fell off, however the tail is still attached so badly damaged that it will have to be amputated in any case. The wounds on his ears were not treated at all, and are covered with scabs and has infection. His tail is basically necrotic as well as two of the digits on his paw. Our doctor advised that we would have to amputate the rest of his ears (that what is left of it), as well as his tail and the two damaged digits. In order for Braveheart to undergo his surgery, we will have to gather some funds to pay for the operation as well as the treatment and medication which are rather costly as we do not have any source of funding for strays at this stage. Once we have made contact with willing new and ready owners, we will disclose the cost which we are about to incur to help Braveheart make an uneventful recovery. Despite the fact that his life must have been terrible up until now, he is the most gentle and friendliest young boy. Braveheart loves to be patted and kissed on the head and nose and does not show a single sign of aggression towards anyone. He would be the perfect family dog. Braveheart is longing for a good home, with love. Where he will be treated with the deserved respect.
