The Durkeeville Historical Society is an organization that is trying to make a difference in one of the challenged communities in Jacksonville, DHS is committed to not only preserving the past, but also helping to revitalize one of the most historic neighborhoods in the city. In 1998 the Durkeeville Historical Center was started with concerned individuals in the Community, they wanted to make a difference. DHS opened its doors to the community. As we go into the new year we are still moving forward in our original mission of collecting and promoting the history of Durkeeville by committing to showcasing the African American History of Jacksonville and serving as a cultural literacy and resource center for all members of the community from young people to seniors. We are asking that you help us fulfill our mission by making additional contributions in the name of your organization or business, volunteering your time with our fundraising events, and attending our monthly meetings.
