We would like to thank everyone that has made a donation thus far to the poor folks in Bud, WV that have been without water for 5 months now. We are at a slow start, but were hoping that it picks up this weekend and over the course of the week so that we can meet our goal of $10,000 so we can deliver 2400 cases of water (approximately 5 cases/200 bottles of water per person) in that small town. Our very own Kris called the principal in the article to very the legitimacy of the story and confirmed that these folks have indeed been without water, not due to anyones fault in particular, just a series of unfortunate events. I will allow her to share the details when she has time later, please be sure to check in to read what she found out. What I will share with you all now is this: 1.) This is a VERY SMALL AND POOR town with a lot of elderly on fixed incomes and about 200 kids in their school 2.) Parents are having to make a choice between bottled water or winter clothes for their babies ~ can you imagine? Sorry baby, we cant get you a new winter coat or boots right now, we have to save our money to buy bottled water so you can brush your teeth, wash your hair, and drink. 3.) For those that cant afford to buy bottled water, they are being forced to bottle their own water from mountain springs. This is the 21st century! And through all this, the government is where? Not here in small town America, the epitome of America. It can take up to ONE YEAR before this town is connected to the next towns public water supply....A YEAR!!! With that perspective, isnt $5, $10, $20 a drop in the bucket (no pun intended) to help your neighbors? $20 buys about 5 cases of water, which is what we are trying to provide each resident. We have THE TRUCK donating their time and fuel (which will cost thousands in and of itself to make this trek there and do 5 deliveries) to deliver your donation. People, this is third world living conditions RIGHT HERE IN AMERICA! This is OUR time to show that CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME, that WE CAN TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN, and that we DO take care of our own FIRST AND FOREMOST! Please make a donation, in whatever denomination, every little bit helps! $5 - one case of water...cant you spare that? We hope so. And PLEASE spread the word!
