Weather Bulletin Number EIGHT Tropical Cyclone Warning: Tropical Storm "GORIO" Issued at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, 29 June 2013 Tropical Storm "GORIO" has accelerated further and is now over Sorsogon Bay. Location of Center: (as of 4:00 p.m.) 40 km Southeast of Legazpi City Coordinates: 12.9°N, 123.9°E Strength: Maximum winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph Movement: Northwest at 24 kph Forecast Positions/Outlook: Sunday afternoon: 60 km Northwest of Iba, Zambales after passing Metro Manila in the morning Monday afternoon: 560 km Northwest of Sinait, Ilocos Sur and out of the Philippine Area of Responsibity (PAR). Areas Having Public Storm Warning Signal PSWS # Luzon Visayas Mindanao Signal No. 2 (61-100 kph winds) Masbate incl. Ticao Burias Islands Sorsogon Albay Camarines Sur Camarines Norte Marinduque Quezon incl. Polilio Island Rizal Bulacan Pampanga Tarlac Zambales Nueva Ecija Pangasinan Batangas Laguna Cavite Bataan Metro Manila None None Signal No. 1 (45-60 kph winds) Catanduanes Romblon Mindoro Provinces incl. Lubang Island La Union Benguet Nueva Vizcaya Quirino Aurora Samar Provinces Leyte Provinces Biliran Northeastern Iloilo Capiz Aklan None Public Storm Warning Signals elsewhere are now lowered. Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under signals #2 & #1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas are alerted against big waves or storm surges generated by this tropical cyclone. Estimated rainfall amount is from 5 - 15 mm per hour (moderate - heavy) within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Storm. The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 PM today.
