Weather Bulletin Number SIX Tropical Cyclone Warning: Tropical Storm "NANDO" (KONG-REY) Issued at 5:00 a.m., Tuesday, 27 August 2013 Tropical Storm "NANDO" has gained strength as it continues to move in a North Northwest direction. Location of Center: 200 km East of Aparri, Cagayan (as of 4:00 a.m.) Coordinates: 18.1°N, 123.9°E Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph Movement: North Northwest at 15 kph Forecast Positions/Outlook: Wednesday morning: 115 km Northeast of Basco, Batanes Thursday morning: 390 km North of Basco, Batanes Friday morning: 680 km North of Basco, Batanes or at 250 km Northeast of Taiwan Areas Having Public Storm Warning Signal PSWS # Signal No. 2 (61-100 kph winds) - Batanes Group of Islands Signal No. 1 (45-60 kph winds) - Cagayan - Calayan - Babuyan Group of Islands - Apayao - Isabela Estimated rainfall amount is from 10 - 25 mm per hour (heavy - intenes) within the 400 km diameter of the Tropical Storm. "NANDO" is expected to enhance the Southwest Monsoon which will bring light to moderate with at times heavy rains and thunderstorms over the rest of Luzon. Sea travel is risky over the eastern seaboard of Central and Southern Luzon. The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 AM today.
