Weather Forecast for Kent – FRIDAY 24th October ’14. SYNOPSIS: We are still under a maritime-type south westerly airstream, along with a weather front straddling over us. TODAY . . . I’ll keep it simple and just say that it is going to be dull and cloudy with patchy rain all day. Also, the cloud base will often be low enough to shroud high ground as hill fog. It does look like that the rain may become heavy for a time in the evening before finally clearing away altogether later on tonight. It doesn’t really take a genius to work out that today won’t be one of the better line washing days, but it will be very mild with temperatures getting up to 17 C (63 F) - above average for this time of year and at least winds should be mostly light to moderate as it comes in from the south west. The now all-too familiar maritime theme continues. TONIGHT . . . The general cloud cover, hill fog and rain are all expected to finally clear away by midnight leading to clear skies and patchy cloud for the rest of the night. However, that’ll enable temperatures to fall down to as low as 8 C (46 F), quite chilly compared to last night and a few mist patchy may tend to form in prone low lying area by dawnbreak as winds become calm for a time. WEEKEND . . . Good news – tomorrow (Saturday) will be a fine day with plenty of sunshine and only broken cloud! At least after a chilly start and once any early morning mist patches burn away. However, it may not be as sunny on Sunday what with cloud trying to push in from the Atlantic but it is expected to stay dry and be on the mild side anyway. NEXT WEEK . . . Continuing mild – or even very mild - with varied cloud amounts and bright spells. Mind you, the models are now showing a drier outlook for us here at Kent, so it may actually turn out to be a “useful” half term holiday break after all. I should imagine mist and fog may tend to be more of a regular thing by night but we’ll tackle that when the time comes. With all that to mind, I’m slightly more confident for a dry Halloween’s night – but again, I’m getting well ahead of myself again.
