Weather postpones Sheriffs Office Halloween event to Friday Threats of damaging winds and rains prompted Sheriff Robert Arnold to ask Rutherford County citizens to postpone Halloween trick or treating until Friday. “We don’t want to risk the lives of our children,” Sheriff Arnold said. The National Weather Service forecast predicts a risk of damaging winds during the traditional trick or treat hours between 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. Sheriff Arnold postponed the annual Trunk or Treat Halloween event at the Sheriff’s Office from Halloween until 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at 940 New Salem Highway in Murfreesboro. “We hope parents and community organizations will consider postponing the events for the safety of the children and families until Friday and still enjoy the Halloween festivities,” Sheriff Arnold said.
