~ Webinar – 3D Spatial Data from Photogrammetric Point Clouds - Wednesday, 31 July 2013 - 12:30 to 1:30 pm (ACST) ~ 1 SSSI CPD Point - 1 Survey Practice Point (BOSSI SSSI Member $35 / SSSI Retired and Students $0 / Non Member $60 / Alliance Rate $35 The 3D Spatial Data from Photogrammetric Point Clouds presentation was presented by Glenn Jones at the SSSC 2013 in Canberra, ACT in April. As it is a very popular topic we are running an extended presentation as a webinar with time for Q & A. Overview This webinar presentation will showcase the potential for a range of new high-resolution 3D spatial products sourced from existing 50cm resolution digital photogrammetry captured by NSW Land and Property Information (LPI). The software used to process this imagery (Leica XPro) employs a Semi-Global Matching (SGM) technique to extract point cloud data in LAS format at a resolution of one point per pixel. This is equivalent to the first return of a LiDAR sensor with the addition of RGB & CIR colour attributes from the imagery. Initial testing shows that the vertical accuracy of the data is sub-metre which fills the void between data sourced from LiDAR and SAR techniques. Given that LPI has already produced in excess of 160 1:100,000 map sheets across two thirds of NSW, the potential exists to provide high-resolution 3D data across vast extents of the State. Derived products may include classified LAS files, a bare-earth DEM (2-5m resolution), hydrology & catchment definitions and feature extraction. Presenter Glenn Jones | Manager Cadastral, Topographic & Location Programs, Land and Property Information Division I Department of Finance & Services Glenn Jones currently manages the Cadastral, Topographic & Location programs at NSW Land & Property Information (LPI). He has 38 years experience in the practical application of geodesy, GNSS positioning and the development of elevation data derived from airborne sensors. Glenn was responsible for establishment of LPI’s own LiDAR capability.
