Intermodal Europe has announced the European Freight Forwarders Association (CLECAT) and the European Shippers Council (ESC) will chair a workshop on ‘Intelligent Logistics through partnering in the Supply Chain’ at Intermodal Europe in Rotterdam this November. Nicolette van der Jagt, Director General of CLECAT, and Joost Sitskoorn, Acting Secretary General of the ESC will lead the workshop, which will include several presentations from industry experts and a round table discussion. “There is a lot of innovation in this industry, which will be discussed, such as the development of intelligent cargo to improve efficiency and sustainability and the management of complex supply chains through intelligent IT systems” explains Nicolette van der Jagt. “We are also chairing these sessions in cooperation with iCARGO, a project that aims to advance the use of ICT (information and Communications Technology) in support of new logistics services.” iCARGO is an ambitious project that aims to develop a “decentralised ICT infrastructure allowing real world objects, new planning services including CO2 calculation capabilities and existing systems to co-exist and efficiently co-operate at an affordable cost for logistics stakeholders”. The workshop will include demonstrations of technology, systems and data management as well as forecasting future innovations and market trends.
