Wed like to give a quick mention to a Living with Cancer public information day taking place at the City North Hotel in Gormanston, Co Meath from 2pm to 6pm tomorrow (Saturday, April 5th). People living with cancer and their families are invited to attend this unique event which will feature Irish celebrities talking about their cancer experiences as well as presentations from a panel of cancer experts, including Professor John Crown. International expert Professor Bryan Hennessy, Consultant Oncologist at Beaumont and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospitals will host the event which will focus on the most common type of cancers. Well-known personalities including comedian Anne Gildea, a former Nuala and author of I’ve Got Cancer - What’s Your Excuse?, Drogheda United footballer Gary O’Neill, award-winning Irish Times journalist Kathy Sheridan and Cathy McCarthy, author of the book Not The Year You Had Planned, will share their experiences of living with cancer. Tickets are €15 and all funds raised at the event go to NECRET (North East Cancer Research and Education Trust) and the north east oncology unit.
