Wed like to make you aware of a great workshop opportunity put on by Pioneer Landscapes, to learn how to grow your own native plants from seed in a nursery style deep cone pot system that only requires about 25 cents of materials per 10 deep by 2.5 inch wide native perennial plug. This system can produce native shrubs, trees, and perennial tap-rooted and/or fibrous rooted plants at high quality within 4 months in a growing season (May-September) for mass fall plantings. Due to the size and quality of the plug production; germinated in May, and planted in September most plants will nearly mature the following growing season. This is a 2.5 hour workshop that includes focus periods on pollinator benefitting with native plants, growing supplies and propagation resources/instruction guides for scarification, stratification, and proper germination, a native plant selection focus for landscape aesthetics based on horticultural principles such as layering and texture contrast, and ending with a Q/A session. Email pre-registration is required to distribute the online resources and links needed to create your own native plant nursery at home. See link the link in the comment section below for full lesson plan. This workshop will be held at Cincinnati State, room 108 C, Saturday, January 24th in 3 identical class periods with a 40 person cap per class so pre-regirestation through email is required to secure your preferred time and ability to attend. The times are 8:30-11:00 A.M., 11:30-2:00 P.M. and 2:30-5:00 P.M. Cost is $15, pay at door, or see email registration response for address to pay by mail in check. https://dropbox/s/jrlpxw4vvsfosu8/Workshop%20Informational%20Sheet2.pdf?dl=0
