Wednesday, July 03, 2013 Amos 3:15 And I will smite the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, saith the LORD. The wrath of God is a terrible thing. Here we see the pronouncement of judgment against Israel by God. I was particularly impressed by the line concerning the great houses shall have an end. A similar judgment awaits the great houses of the earth at the end of the age when our Lord returns. Think about it for a moment. The legacy of the great industrialists will have an end. The legacy of the techno nerds will have an end. The legacy of the royal families will have an end. All those great and powerful families who have built fame power and fortune will one day see it vanish. However they are not alone. Many who have little will also see it vanish. Why because the wealth of this world will become meaningless when they stand before the Lord. That is why all men great and small need Jesus in their heart. Having wealth is no sin. Placing wealth before the Lord is sin and one day the wealth will be gone. I recall the parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus where the Rich Man had vast riches and yet he stands in torment, desiring not a glass of water, but rather for Lazarus to dip his finger in water and touch it to his tongue. Would he have traded all he had ever possessed for a chance to return to the body and repent? Obviously yes and so has the case been for many. We need to pray for the souls of the wealthy and the powerful because Jesus died for them to. All their money, possessions and power in this life will not matter in the end. So today pray for them and ask God to open a door for the Gospel to be shared with them. May God richly bless your day!
