It is the discipline of prayer that brings us into the central avenue of change. If we abandon prayer we will never see change in our lives. When we pray, we are affected in some way or another. Prayer will allow God to slowly and graciously reveal himself to us and bring about change. Prayer is a journey and not an event. James 4:3 - Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. If we ask in prayer for things for is then we ask amiss. We are to pray for things that he wants, for his will. To think like him, we have to spend time in prayer to develop a mindset like his. The flesh resists prayer. The less we pray, the more our flesh will take over our thought and activities and will keep us from prayer. The more we pray, the more we can resist the flesh and get closer to God and allow him to change us. It is a parents responsibility to pray for their children. If we cant talk to them about God, talk to him about them. Not a day should go by that we should not pray for our children, whether they are saved or not. Prayer should not be optional or done only when it suits our time. Do we love God enough to spend time in prayer with him. And when we do pray, God does not want vain repetition, he wants to hear from whats in your heart. Prayer changes the outcome of things. Of we pray, we will know what we need to change in out lives. Prayer can alter our situations and cause the outcome to change. Real prayer is something we learn over time. Even the disciples asked God to teach them how to pray. It is a learning process that never ends. When Jesus prayed for himself he always concluded if it be thy will. When he prayed for others he never said this. He just spoke it. The prayer of the apostles and prophets were positive and led to statements like, stand up and walk. Tips to successful prayer: - Seek out people who have been success in prayer and ask them to teach you how to be successful - Read everything you can find about prayer. - Study the prayer habits of those in the bible that brought about results. - Pray with a mindset that lives will be changed and expect him to answer. - Determine that you will continue in prayer even when things are great and not just when we are in need.
