Wednesday Night Match Report: 30th October 2013 Check Out the Latest Wednesday Night Leagues at soccer5s Wednesday Night Men’s Premiership 7s Fubar 2.0 7 V 10 Doosin It Top Goalscorer: Ian McAndrew (Doosin It, 4) MOM: Matt Hall (Doosin It) ‘Doosin It’ went into this game looking to add to their win from last week and they did just that. Special notice to a few of their players in Ian McAndrew, Matt Hall and Benny Cohen. Ian McAndrew weaved his way through the majority of the ‘Fubar’ players and finished it superbly. Matt Hall had a great game as always and contributed 3 goals to his team’s efforts. Captain Coach Cohen had a mare in the first 5 minutes but came back to show his defensive prowess with a maestro-esque display. Wednesday Night Men’s Division A 5s Cocky 6 9 V 10 BBBB This game was one that was talked about before hand by the Soccer5s pundits and the scoreline truly reflected the hype. In what was described by fans as ‘a tight game’, goals were flying in at both ends as each time struggled to get the better of each other. ‘Cocky 6’s’ star man Hatchy showed his class once again with a stellar performance but Captain David Sullivan and his boys got the better in the end and snagged it by a goal. Monday Night Men’s Women’s B 5s Solo Original 7 V 16 When Matthew Met Sally This clash saw 2 previous Division A teams go head to head. When Matthew Met Sally it was love at first sight but thay wasn’t quite the story When Sally met Solo Orginal. It was quite a one-sided affair. Solo Original were led onto the field by Yellow Army ring leader Erin Corbett but her presence on the field didn’t distract Sally & her girls. They were 3-0 up in as many minutes but a poor goalkeeping display early on by Manager Sally meant the clean sheet was lost. The game continued in the same fashion and by half time it was 10-5 to W.M.M.S. Very similar to the first half, the second half was once again a one sided game, and Sally’s team pulled away into a strong lead. A shout out must go to Solo’s No1 Goalkeeper in the sticks who put in a fantastic display and would have been much more if she wasn’t in the pipes. Hopefully Solo can bounce back from this heavy defeat. Wednesday Night Men’s Division 2 7s Mud Men 3 V 5 Marvelous In another tight clash in this even Division, we saw Francis Kelliher’s ‘Mud Men’ take on Lachlan Turner’s ‘Marvelous’. Many predicted a tight game as they both showcased their skills early on. It was an even game for most of the match but Marvelous were just that little bit better tonight and came away with the 3 points in the end. ‘Mud Men’ will have to bounce back from this if they want to mount a title challenge. Wednesday Night Men’s Division B 5s Bremick 3 V 8 Ask Your Mum The highly rated ‘Bremick’ took on the young boys of ‘Ask Your Mum’ and the youngsters sprung a surprise tonight with a convincing victory. Captain Alex Peake watched from the sideline but due to injury, could not help but watch his side be masterminded by the efforts of James Cross and his team mates. Bremick will need to dust themselves down and start again to try and begin their season next week. Wednesday Night Men’s Division C 5s Hammer and Tongs 5 V 7 Turbo Snails In the biggest shock result tonight, veteran 5-a-side team ‘Hammer and Tongs’ were outplayed and outclassed tonight by Cliff’s ‘Turbo Snails’ outfit. Cliff’s side truly emulated their name with some speedy pass and quick play that was, in the end, too good for Daniel Proctor and his team mates to deal with. Can Turbo Snails build on this and claim the Division C title? Wednesday Night Men’s Division D 5s PNS 8 V 16 Aesthetics FC After this game finished, many fans called for the retirement of the ‘PNS’ goalkeeper but those chants will fall on deaf ears for the experienced old timer! This game, as shown by the scoreline, was packed with goals. For a time in the game, it was tit-for-tat with both teams contesting in a tight game. Other fans were of the opinion that these teams could play up into Division C. Will Aesthetics maintain this form and grab that trophy Wednesday Night U12 Junior 5s Dudley # 1 6 V 13 Dudley #2 Top Goalscorer: Daniel Christie (Dudley 2, 4 goals) MOM: Daniel Christie (Dudley 2) The local derby in the Under 12’s here to get the young ones in the mood for the Mariners game this weekend and it was a cracker! 19 goals in total and it was certainly great to watch. Lots of promise shown by players on both teams, which in turn created a great game. There was plenty of slick passing involved and you can see what coach Dudley Lister has been teaching them.
