Week 13 Notes Headlines: Blues Go 3-0 Again A Couple Of Goalie Battles Blues 10-0-1 During Undefeated Streak Unicorns 10 Smokin’ Aces 3 - With both teams short players, the Unicorns prevailed with a win over the Smokin’ Aces. Greg Geurts and Brent McKenna led the way for the Unicorns, each scoring five goals. Tim O’Leary, Vince MacDonald, and Tyson Taylor scored the Aces goals. Smokin’ Aces 6 Fog Devils 5 - The Smokin’ Aces rebounded from their opening loss to win a close game against the Fog Devils. Larry Condly led the way for the Smokin’ Aces with a hat-trick, while Tim O’Leary added a pair of goals, and Vince MacDonald scored a single. Collin Sleep led the way for the Fog Devils with four goals, while Ian Lapointe added a single. FUBAR 6 Unicorns 2 - FUBAR got off to a good start this past week with a win over the Unicorns. Ian Stevens led the way for FUBAR with a hat-trick, while Mike Hossack added a pair of goals, and Peter Wolters scored a single. Brent McKenna scored both Unicorns goals. FUBAR 1 Smokin’ Aces 1 - A remarkable goaltending display fittingly ended in a tie. James Morrison scored for FUBAR to spoil Paul Richard’s shutout bid midway through the game and take the lead. It wasn’t until late in the game when borrowed player, Derek Brown scored to tie the game and spoil Scott Shepard’s shutout bid. Fog Devils 11 Unicorns 5 - Collin Sleep led the way with six goals in a convincing win for the Fog Devils, while James Campbell and Ian Lapointe each added a pair of goals, and Derek Brown scored a single. Greg Geurts scored a hat-trick for the Unicorns, while Brent McKenna added a pair of goals. Fog Devils 4 FUBAR 3 - The Fog Devils won another close game against FUBAR and have won their last two meetings. Ian Laponte scored the winning goal for the Fog Devils. It was his 2nd tally of the game to go along with goals by Collin Sleep and James Campbell. Ian Stevens, Peter Wolters, and Mark Whitlock scored the FUBAR goals. Blues 5 Barrage 4 - Anthony Crawford scored the winning goal for the Blues in a close win over the Barrage. Mike Moore had a pair of goals for the Blues, while Andrew Trecartin and Jamie Williams added the others. Marc Guitard scored a pair of goals for the Barrage, while Jamie Carson and Ben Warren added singles. Vipers 4 Barrage 3 - The Vipers handed the Barrage their 2nd straight loss by one goal. Jim Taylor, Wyatt Ashworth, Darryl Moorcroft, and Art McCoy created the balanced scoring by the Vipers. Marc Guitard scored a pair of goals for the Barrage, while Jamie Carson added a single. Blues 2 Vipers 1 - This game turned out to be our 2nd goaltending battle of the day, but this time there was a winner as Brandon Leet-MacFarlane allowed only one goal for the tight win over the Vipers. Andrew Trecartin and Justin McKillop scored the Blues goals. Art McCoy scored the only Vipers goal to spoil Brandon’s shutout bid. Blues 8 Barrage 4 - The Blues had six different scorers on their way to a convincing victory over the Barrage. Mike Moore and Mike Connor each scored a pair of goals for the Blues, while Andrew Trecartin, Justin McKillop, Jamie Williams, and Anthony Crawford added singles. Mark Guitard and Jamie Carson each scored a pair of goals for the Barrage. Collective 8 Shooters 3 - The Collective move out of the basement with a convincing win over the Shooters. Rick Bartlett led the way for the Collective with his first league five goal game, while Mike Clarke scored a hat-trick as well as assisting on all of Rick’s goals. What are the odds of Rick having a five-goal game in this league? We found out this week the answer is 510 to 1. It was Rick’s 510th game. Bobby Woods scored a pair of goals for the Shooters, while Jeremy Snow added a single. Vipers 4 Warriors 3 - The Vipers continued their balanced scoring in another close win. This time against the Warriors. Jim Taylor, Wyatt Ashworth, Art McCoy, and Bryan Letcher scored the Vipers goals. Ray Chase scored a pair of goals for the Warriors, while Brian Kelly added a single. Warriors 5 Collective 2 - The Warriors rebound with a win over the Collective. Jon Loubert scored a pair of goals for the Warriors, while Troy Doyle, Denis Loubert, and Brian Kelly added singles. Mike Clarke and Rick Haines scored the Collective goals. Collective 8 Shooters 8 - The Collective managed a comeback after it looked like the Shooters would take the rematch. Rick Bartlett scored his 2nd goal of the game in the final seconds for the tie. Mike Clarke led the way for the Collective with four goals, while spare Adam Ferguson also added a pair. Jeremy Snow led the way for the Shooters with a hat-trick, while Yvon Mayer added a pair of goals, and Bobby Woods, Doug Taylor, and spare Mike Connor added singles. Warriors 8 Shooters 5 - The Warriors win the final game of the day against the Shooters. Ray Chase led the way for the Warriors with four goals, while Troy Doyle added a pair, and Jon and Denis Loubert scored singles. Jeremy Snow scored his 2nd consecutive hat-trick for the Shooters, while spare Mike Connor added a pair of goals. This Week’s 3 Stars picked by me. 1st Star - Mike Clarke – Led the scoring this week with 16 points out the Collective’s 18 goals. 2nd Star - Collin Sleep – Had the most goals this week with 11, including a six goal game. He had 13 points. 3rd Star - Brandon Leet-MacFarlane – Won all 3 games while allowing only 9 goals, including a 2-1 win. Honorable Mentions – Scott Shepard went 2-1 only allowing 7 goals. Tony Bonnar went 2-1 only allowing 8 goals. James Campbell had 3 goals and 13 points. Rick Bartlett scored 7 goals and 12 points. Brent McKenna scored 9 goals and 10 ponts. Greg Geurts had 8 goals and 11 points. Ray Chase had 6 goals and 11 points. Jeremy Snow had 7 goals and 11 points.
