Weekend Reflections for September 19, 2014 By Fr. Len Kraus, S.J. Here is a strange fact: mercy and compassion sometimes evoke jealousy and resentment: these last ones worked only one hour and you have made them equal to us, who bore the days burden and the heat. The mercy and love of the landowner (reminder to us of how things work in Gods realm ) challenge the way we might be tempted to think and judge. Jealousy and entitlement that separate us from one another are not gifts from Gods Spirit. The prophet Isaiah reminds us of the true picture of God, our God who is generous in forgiving. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. What a hopeful revelation for all of us who strive, as St. Paul exhorts us, to conduct ourselves in a way worthy of the Gospel!
