Weekly Viking Rant, week 13: Better Late Than Never Sorry this weeks rant comes a little late, had to watch a majority of the game on DVR as I was traveling this morning. YEAH GAMES IN THE AK ARE IN THE MORNING, which is awesome. I was able to catch that abomination of an overtime period live... So glad there wasnt another tie. Man that face mask call on the first Viking field goal attempt in OT was straight off WTF Avenue. I pretty much hate all officials (like the incompetent crew in Soldotna this weekend), that phantom face mask call on the kick furthered my distain for zebras. Then Robbie Gould choked, and it seemed like we were headed to another tie... Thankfully number 7 was out of the game by then... and the Vikes won!!! I am not the type of fan who cheers for their team to lose for draft positioning, so it felt good to see the Vikes send the cubbies crying back to Obamatown following the final meeting between the Bears and Vikes at the Metrodome. Also loved the passion the PLAYERS showed... they wanted it. Couldnt tell if the coaching staff did or not... ADRIAN PETERSON was the freaking MAN today. Hit the 10,000 yds mark for his career... 200 plus on the ground, and a couple of Huge 4th down runs. You just watch in awe sometimes at that man. Okay this wouldnt be complete without giving my opinion on the coaching staff, which continues to un-inspire. My two thoughts this week: 1) the fact that Cassell has had a hand in each of Minnesotas 3 wins this season, lets you know the wrong guy has been starting (number 7 sucks). Cassells interception was clearly not his fault as the ball hit Ellison (phantom face mask call victim) in the bread basket. Cassell made some HUGE throws... and Im sure Jennings appreciates being involved. Gotta play Cassell the remainder of the season. 2) The play of Xavier Rhodes. I think this guy is a couple seasons away from being a shut-down corner... I mean did Brandon Marshall even play today? Rhodes gave up a few catches, but I think most of that was schematic. But what pisses me off about Frazier and crew is that Rhodes (first round pick) didnt start until last week???? I mean Frazier had him playing behind Josh Robinson for crying out loud. I think even if the Vikes win out... Change still needs to be made. On the road to Baltimore next week... Cassell plays, Vikes have a chance. SKOL
