Weight. What can it tell us? So many of us get on the scale daily - TopicsExpress

Weight. What can it tell us? So many of us get on the scale daily and keep such close track of this number, but does this help you FEEL good? Last year, my sister took on a workout program that included strength training, push ups, pull ups, and aerobic exercise six days a week. She also started eating seven servings of vegetables a day, snacking on fruit twice a day, and paying attention at meals to when she felt full, and not eating any more when her stomach told her to stop. She looked great, felt great, and literally watched (she took pictures every week) her waist become more defined and her legs and arms transform into more sculpted versions of themselves. But, she was shocked at the numbers on the scale, especially when her weight increased!!! She learned that muscle really does weigh more than fat, and that drinking plenty of water increased her weight, but decreased her dress size. She decided to put the scale away and focus on how she felt, and how many jumping jacks, pushups, and crunches she could do. Those numbers were the ones that told her she was getting healthier! Heres a great article talking about why you should consider hiding your scale.... Motivation Makeover: Stick that scale in the closet and find inspiration in other numbers (besides your weight).... womansday/_mobile/health-fitness/5-ways-youre-sabotaging-your-workout-125135
