Welcome everyone. JC and I are inviting everyone to come and join our crusade to protest the abuse of dogs while they are in the care of the Hastings Dog Pound. Our Mayor, Laurence Yule, has a very staunch stance on dangerous dog breeds in Hastings. This seems to include condoning damaging the dogs, regardless of the breed, while they are in the Councils care. I have read many horrific stories over the last three weeks from various people who have suffered along with their dogs from the ignorance that is leaked from the top to the bottom of our Council. Twenty minutes away from Hastings is a council that practices safe and humane practices and from what I hear you could stay in their pound for the night yourself and be very comfortable!! Well done Napier City Council for doing your job well. Hastings however operates in a shameful and embarrassing way. We pay the Mayor to behave this way! While the pound is the primary objective for most people to vent their frustration it is the strategic level or the Mayor himself that this message needs to reach. This is what we want to do on Sunday in an organised manner, thanks JC :D So the call is something like this or your own if you have one just add it to this post. 1. We wont tolerate the abuse of our dogs while the Council houses them 2. That they play by the rules of the law and not hide behind them 3. That they be responsible like the Napier and other Councils 4. We are people living in this electorate and deserve to be treated with respect including our animals Please do share our call to fair rights with everyone that you know will be supportive. Everyone deserves to be treated fairly animals included.
