Welcome new box breakers who joined us this weekend! I feel that some intros are in order: I am Amber, a school psychologist and single mom of 3 boys. I write about the ups and downs of raising my boys, two of which have diagnoses. You can follow me on Twitter @schoolpsychmama The Ginger is turning 14 this month (yikes)! He is learning to navigate the waters of middle school with ADHD and dysgraphia. Last year was ROUGH but we are optimistically looking forward to a good year this year. He is my creative entrepreneur who wants to be a business owner of a bazillion different businesses when he grows up! The Boy Genius is my middle boy, age 7, just beginning 2nd grade. He has Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, and ADHD. He is way too intelligent for me to genetically be his mama, sometimes it scares me, LOL! I just pray everyday I can answer the questions he comes up with. My Baby Boy is 6 and beginning 1st grade. We may have to have a name contest for him soon because he isnt a baby anymore :-( He was a preemie, survived NICU, and had delays in all areas his first 3 years. I was told he would have a permanent limp and gait problems, learning disabilities, and one Dr even used the R word, which makes me cringe, BUT I took that as a challenge and he is all caught up, plays sports, and walks just fine! I started this page to encourage others to break out of the boxes that labels put us in, set the bar high, and expect more in life! I also aim to share educational tips and help parents and/or teachers understand the evaluation process and other educational rights. Questions? Ask away! Think we may benefit someone you know? Please share!
