Welcome to even Freakier Friday. This week I review 3 films about human oddities. The first 2 films are by New York director Frank Henenlotter. First up is Basket Case 2. Basket Case 2, starts where the first film left off & gives the viewer a quick recap so you don’t have to suffer through the original. The original is for Claymation worshipers only. Duane & Belial Bradley are severed Siamese twins. Belial lives in a basket & is generally in a foul mood. He used his teeth & claws to avenge himself on the doctors who performed the separation in the first film. Now fugitives, the two brothers escape to Granny Ruth’s sanctuary for ‘unique individuals’. Unfortunately, a nosy reporter doesn’t want to leave the siblings alone & Belial’s wrath is aroused. Annie Ross as Dr. Ruth Smoeller carries the film, she is 100% believable as a therapist & vengeful holy crusader to her charges. The majority of the death scenes are cleverly planned & choreographed. Prepare for a plethora of freaks. Gory, bloody & silly, this film is sure to satisfy. Unfortunately, I could only get trailers this week. Oh well. youtube/watch?v=J_GStsHbiPM
