Well - on Tuesday, Kay from Hills Pet Nutrition South Africa came through to meet me. What a lovely lady! She was very kind and diplomatic, and gave me the best neck and tummy scratch ever. She even told me how handsome I was... too kind. But I should have known... Kaye just wanted to get a good grip (literally) on the condition of my body. The news is not pretty... In a nutshell on the Hills Body Fat Index Risk Chart for Cats, I am in between Serious and Severe Risk with around 60% bodyfat. That means my ideal body weight is actually 4kgs less than what it is now!! So - I have joined the Hills Pet Slimmer Programme which comes with its own booklet and even a website where I can load progress photographs as I go. And there is a fridge magnet with a spot for a before photo and an after photo. The new diet from Hills is called Prescription Diet Metabolic and if all goes to plan, I should be able to lose 29% of my body fat in just 2 months. I love instant results so really hope its true! The good thing is - their food is quite tasty and filling and I have the support of all my lovely family here at The Oyster Box. There will be weigh-ins every 2 weeks at my vet and my progress is going to be really carefully monitored every step of the way. As with all diets, they have recommended I drink more water and try and do a little more exercise every day. Its going to be a long road but we are all positive.... look out for the svelte new me. I may just be sporting a speedo by Christmas!
