Well...I am here in the hospital until Monday. The hospitalist - TopicsExpress

Well...I am here in the hospital until Monday. The hospitalist told me that I will be released no matter what my surgeon says on Monday. If nothing can be worked out with the wound vac, they are sending me home on wet to dry packing. My surgeon has been wonderful, going to bat for me. But, rules are rules and they have policies they need to follow. I am so grateful I have a surgeon who really cares about her pages and fights for them. She fought the good fight. The hospitalist said they found a different kind of bacteria growing on the culture they got from blood draws in the E.R. The Infectious Disease doctor said that it took so long to grow that its suspect. She said its very common for the lab to make errors in handling of the cultures. She is not worried and I am in no way contagious at this point. The antibiotics I am on cover the possibility of there being anything serious with the E.R. cultures. My surgeon said if this wound gets re-infected, my rebound visit could be fatal. She said she doesnt want to see me in the obituary pages. She really goes to bat for her patients. I will do all I can to feel better. T Thanks so much for all of the prayers and well wishes. The visits have been real morale boosters. Please know I am not longer contagious and probably havent been from the day I was admitted. This whole thing started as a sinus infection and I went right on Cipro.
