Well I did my best for the day. It didnt go as well as hoped - TopicsExpress

Well I did my best for the day. It didnt go as well as hoped (pretty bummed I ran around 45 minute slower than I did 3 years ago), but I did what I could and held on to third. Honestly, I knew I shouldnt have started, but I couldnt pass up a trip the the stunning Virginia mountains dressed in fall colors. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way that I probably shouldnt attempt an ultra when my lungs have constantly been inflamed for weeks (fail on asthma inhaler number 2 doing any good) and my breathing sucked early on and my lungs have felt cold for hours. I also finally found out the end result of what happens when you let an achilles injury go for years. It changed how I landed on my left leg and now I will be finally forced not to run as my achilles, it band, hamstring, and hip are now hurt. On the bight side my stomach felt great (first time in many many races) thanks to the help of ultra runner and nutritionist Meredith Terranova who helped me fix my nutrition race plan for ultras. One day all the pieces will come together again...one day.
