Well, I dont wear a clergy collar all that often (upon which one may not hang glasses--see post below)) but I DO have a new pair of glasses which I have been without for almost two years. Upon arrival in Albion, my blended bifocals gave up the ghost and I have not been able to replace them until now. I can see distances fairly well but that malady that comes to most all of us with age makes reading something that requires arms longer than mine stretch, so I have been hobbling by with a pair of cheaters from Wal Mart. The problem with this arrangement is that I can not preach from my manuscript AND see the faces of my congregants (OK I guess I dont see distances all that well either.) This Sunday, I shall be able to do both and I am a little anxious that the expressions I read will not match my very fond imaginings of what those flesh-colored blobs were actually reflecting back to me. This could change the entire course of my preaching career here so say a prayer that I am not stopped dead in my tracks by the looks on my congregants faces.
