Well, I tried to tell my son Daniel that Boston is an evil place where unspeakable dangers lurk at every corner, where the winters are so cold that people suddenly freeze solid in their homes, where the alligators in the sewers are even bigger than those in New York, and where sociopathic practical jokers routinely put poisonous snakes in peoples beds. I reminded him of the earthquakes, tsunamis, and tornadoes that constantly afflict the area, as well as the almost daily mass riots over food shortages, power outages, and lack of clean water. And yet, despite my sincere warnings -- based on my own life experience in that God-forsaken place, mind you -- he and his wife are moving there anyway. Well, all I can say is that weve come to a pretty pass indeed when sons no longer listen to their fathers.
