Well Im putting it out there, I have raised this before, to an alderman, and it was not well received!!! Yes I am a disgruntled rate payer, and I am fed up with this current council, and some of its agendas. Ive said it before, I have major concerns about parking meters, prices and fines. It is a disgrace to prop up council funds, and using this as the biggest money spinner for Devonport, its appalling, and NOW our entire city knows about it. Its nearly Christmas, the businesses are decorating their stores and no doubt the buzz will be in the air soon. So Im going to bring it up again!!!! Free parking for the month of December, so everyone can relax, eat , shop LOCALLY. And NO council Im not talking about half hearted, free parking in council car parks, Im talking every metered space as well. Yes , Im aware you do the odd day off for free parking, but, its still only major car parks. Maybe the last 2 weeks before Christmas ,for free parking, I can only imagine the revenue loss for the whole month!!!!!!! Put into perspective, imagine what a great Christmas it would be for small business owners, the injection of locals spending in Devonport, and maybe it would give us all hope, for happier times to come in the future.
